Finance minister arrives in the USA for the 2014 Spring Meetings

April 9, 2014 - Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda has arrived in the US capital, Washington DC to attend the 2014 International Monetary Fund (IMF)/ World Bank spring meetings.

Mr. Chikwanda who is also Governor on the World Bank board of Governors is expected to attend high level ministerial meetings and engage with senior officials of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank. The Minister was met this morning at Dulles International Airport by Zambia's Ambassador to the United States Palan Mulonda.

Also in the Ministers delegations is Secretary to the Treasury Mr. Fredson Yamba, Permanent Secretary Mr. Felix Nkulukusa, Bank of Zambia Governor Dr Michael Gondwe and other Ministry of Finance and Bank of Zambia officials.

During the spring meetings government officials, civil society organizations, and the private sector, come together at the IMF and the World Bank Group to discuss progress on the work of the IMF and the World Bank Group.

Also featured are seminars, regional briefings, and many other events focused on the global economy, international development, and the world's financial markets.
