GOVERNMENTS COMMENDS WASHINGTON MISSION FOR IDENTIFYING PARTNERSHIPS WITH REPUTABLE HUMANITARIAN ORGANISATIONS

WASHINGTON DC, February 10th, 2026
The Government has commended the Mission in Washington DC for its proactive and strategic approach in identifying, nurturing, and sustaining partnerships with reputable humanitarian and development organisations.

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary – Administration, Mrs. Joma Tambatamba Simuyi said the collaboration with institutions such as Project C.U.R.E. and Islamic Relief USA is a clear demonstration of practical diplomacy, diplomacy that delivers tangible benefits to the people back home.

Mrs. Tambatamba Simuyi said this when she and her delegation paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Ambassador Chibamba Kanyama and the Embassy Staff.

“The Minister has asked me to express his sincere appreciation to Your Excellency and the entire Mission for the commendable work you continue to undertake in advancing Zambia’s interests abroad particularly in mobilising partnerships that are making a real and lasting impact on our health sector.”

She said such partnerships, critical medical equipment and supplies continue to reach public health facilities across Zambia, strengthening service delivery and expanding access to quality healthcare, especially for women, new-borns, and other vulnerable populations.

Mrs. Tambatamba Simuyi said the Government of the Republic of Zambia, under the leadership of His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, has prioritised the health of its citizens as a cornerstone of national development.

“This commitment is clearly reflected in the unprecedented increase in budgetary allocation to the health sector, alongside the recruitment of a significant number of health workers across the country. These deliberate actions underscore Government’s resolve to build a resilient, responsive, and equitable health system for all Zambians.”

“The outcomes of your engagement continue to be felt in our hospitals and communities through improved services and saved lives. It is for this reason that I felt it was important to personally travel and meet with you and your team to encourage you to continue the excellent work, to reaffirm Government’s support, and to strengthen our collective resolve as we work together to improve the lives of our people,” said Mrs. Tambatamba Simuyi.

During this visit, the delegation will have the opportunity to visit Project C.U.R.E. warehouses, engage directly with their technical teams, and hold meetings with Project C.U.R.E. and other strategic partners. These engagements will help further align current and future support with Zambia’s national health priorities and ensure sustainability of the interventions.
