Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Bestows Certificate of Congressional Recognition to the Texas Africa Chamber of Commerce at the Houston-Zambia Business Forum

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee bestowed a Certificate of Congressional Recognition to the Texas Africa Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of the Houston-Zambia Business Forum. This was jointly presented to the leader of the team from Zambia, Ms. Margaret Kapihya, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Zambia, Mr. Mazda Denon from the Houston Mayor’s Office and Mr. Posso Ganame, President of the Texas Africa Chamber of Commerce.

The Houston-Zambia Business Forum brought together a distinguished gathering of leaders, diplomats, and government officials to explore collaboration opportunities between the United States and Zambia. Ambassador Chibamba Kanyama joined the meeting virtually.

The Houston-Zambia Business Forum generated interest in trade and investment in Zambia, including investments in artificial intelligence (AI), mining (including setting up of a refinery for critical minerals), clearing mining refuse and refining it into clean fertilizer, pharmaceutical manufacturing, renewable energy, affordable housing, transport and logistics, agriculture (livestock, fish and block farming), cyber defense mechanisms, amongst others.

The Houston-Zambia Business Forum was sponsored by the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA). ZDA was represented by Ms. Chama Chilambwe (representing the Director-General), Mr. Dennis Sikaulu, Director - Investments, Ms. Banji Mayiya, A/Assistant Director - Investment Support and Ms. Tabitha Malwila, Investments Support Officer.
